Portlandia is a cable television comedy sketch series starring (And produced by) Sleeter-Kinney and Wild Flag lead singer Carrie Rachel Brownstein and former Saturday Night Live Alumni Fred Armisen. Other members of the Portlandia television series production team include Andrew Singer, Jonathan Krisel and Lorne Michaels (who created and produced Saturday Night Live for most of it's run except between 1981 to 1984, Late Night (Created in 1982, he produced it from 1983 to current) and Tonight (Created in 1954, he produced it from 2014 to current). Lorne Michael's production company Broadway Video is responsible not only for Saturday Night Live, current episodes of Late Night, current episodes of Tonight and all five seasons of Portlandia. Ratings for Portlandia is so healthy that the sixth and the seventh seasons has already been approved by the cable television chanel IFC. The skit comedy television series Portlandia is named after a statue in downtown Portland, Oregon as well as being set in Portland, Oregon. Set in and around the underground grunge rock movement in Portland, Oregon (which is the hometown and city of residence of grunge rock musician Carrie Rachel Brownstein).
