We survived. And that's the important thing. No matter what the forces of darkness may try to throw against us, we manage to survive intact. Try as they might to break our spirit, they only make us stronger and more determined. And so is the spirit of the United States of America that it doesn't treat tragedy as the permanent end, but as the provocation to set things right. The spirit of the United States of America is not to give up at the first sign of tragedy, but to shine a light through the darkness, even in the dark days of tragedy so that other can follow us towards the light. Tragedy isn't the permanent end to everything, but rather it's the chance to evolve into somebody stronger and more capable of doing good in the world. Tragedy isn't there to permanently finish us as a nation, but rather tragedy is there to test our resolve and allow us to prove that we will never lower ourselves to their level no matter how much hurt we feel. They will never get the satisfaction of breaking us that badly because we'll never allow them to break us that badly. And as I'm lost in thought while it's late at night, here are some photos of Vanessa Minnillo Lachey.
